Summer 08 | Summer Brights

One of the more obvious trends in men’s underwear for summer 08 is “summer brights” – and when we say bright we mean eye popping, glow in the dark, stand out in the crowd, bright! Remember the neon in 80’s well is back, but with a bit more class, zesty lemon yellows, powder pinks, fresh greens and electric blues.

Pretty much everyone is doing it, from run of the mill brands to high end designers. Most men’s underwear labels have gone for bright block colours with contrast edging. Some have combined the bright colours with another 2008 summer trend, the bold graphic print.

The Jameswinston Co. neon collection hits the summer brights mark, choosing orange tang over yellow – but since the appearance of the S-Brief on the BBC's Dragons Den anything from Jameswinston Co. seems hard to find. Punto Blanco has a more muted collection, thats fits the trend, for those the don't want to wear sunglasses to open the underwear drawer.

Bright colours always look better against darker skin tones or tans, so if your looking a shade of blue cheese, slap on a fake tan or go for a quick holiday.

And you’ll be happy to hear, Summer Brights isn’t just a one season wonder – you will be wearing bright pants all the way into Spring 09. Giving way slightly more to blues and teals in Autumn and Winter 08, but coming back with a splash in Spring 09. But don’t worry – most of the Summer Brights also fit perfectly into Summer 08/Autumn 08 retro revival!
