Men’s Metallic Underwear

Metallic’s is a trend that has been seen on the catwalks for a few seasons, it has finally filtered down into men’s underwear.

A trend for that started in Winter and is now coming into it's own in Spring – heavily influenced by Winter Opulence, the spring additions to this men's underwear trend are lighter with more colour.

MANstore underwear, who seem to have collections for each trend never mind each season, started with GLORY a series that fuses the two Winter trends, opulence and metallic’s. Followed by RHINEGOLD, lighter in tone and with much more shimmer, liquid gold and silver pieces - the most metallic of all the trend sets and the collection includes the infamous stringbody.

The Winter 08 and Spring/Summer 09 HOM Couture collections, HOM Couture “Seven Deadly Sins” and “Inspired Patterns” have metallic elements including a variety of silvers; light silver, dirty silver and dark gun metal silver, metallic pinks and reds. The Elixir series from HOM underwear uses a light breathable fabric that shimmers with shades of copper and gold’s.

Mundo Unico has two muted metallic’s colours in the Filmografia collection. Poder and brillo, gold and silver respectively, understated shades on the famous South American brands.

The 2009 men’s underwear collection from CLEVER Underwear uses a chic grey silver on the Stripper brief and Shine boxer brief, subtle but very effective.

Men’s Metallic Swimwear

And the must have for Spring 2009, metallic men’s swimwear – the diver and icerain collections from the master of swimwear Olaf Benz. diver is technically more wet-look than metallic, but worth a mention, silver grey or ink black with a slick shine. icerain is black with silver dots in patterns that create dramatic streaks of metallic icy rain for a shimmering looking swimear. The Olaf Benz sunfreeze Swimwear Collection has a pure liquid shimmer, metallic ice blue and star grey, men’s swimwear with shine.

Cross Season Trends

Because this trend has crossed two seasons, and it looks ready to continue, and has no set colour palette, it’s much easier to style for the trend. The Calvin Klein Steel range fits in perfectly and if you have any of the Eros underwear with a hint of metallic, it’s time you started wearing it again.

When it comes to metallic’s in men’s underwear, the colours are secondary it’s the shine that counts.
